STAFF

Pedro Torres is a full professor at the Department of Applied Mathematics of the University of Granada. His PhD was defended in 1997 under the supervision of Pedro Martínez Amores. During the academic year 1999-2000, he got a postdoctoral fellowship at the S.I.S.S.A. in Trieste (Italy). Since then, he has been linked to the University of Granada where he has developed most of his research and teaching activity, with occasional short-term stays abroad.

The main research line of PT is the qualitative study of differential equations as models in Physics, Biology and other sciences. The research group is specialized in nonlinear phenomena like periodic motions and another type of recurrence, stability and existence of coherent structures in several problems coming from Classical and Quantum Mechanics, as well as problems from Mathematical Ecology. The dynamics of differential equations with singularities is a significant part of the work. Collaboration and interaction with other researchers (not necessarily mathematicians) is always a priority.

He has experience of many years teaching differential equations at a graduate and master level. He has been the supervisor of 5 PhD theses and has a long experience as reviewer and editor of several mathematical journals.
